Yeovil Town fell to their first defeat of the National League season against Wrexham at Huish Park.

Kwame Thomas netted the only goal of the afternoon in the opening ten minutes.

Yeovil did look better in the second half, but ultimately the pressure was to no avail as the Red Dragons clung on to claim all three points.

Darren Sarll opted for four changes to the starting line-up, but his defence took a familiar look in Adam Smith, Carl Dickinson, Lee Collins, Luke Wilkinson and Dan Leadbitter.

The midfield and forward line saw the most notable changes, with Albi Skendi and Rhys Murphy returning to the starting line-up and loan signing Matt Warburton making his debut.

The opening stages saw the visitors press with great energy, forcing Adam Smith into a save in the 4th minute as Reece Hall-Johnson fired from the edge of the box.

This energy proved just too much for Yeovil in the 11th minute as Wrexham took the lead. After Yeovil seemingly won the ball through Dickinson, the visitors pressed and won the ball back almost instantly as Jay Harris pounced and found Thomas at the back post, firing the North Wales outfit ahead.

The visitors dominated the game throughout the opening stages, with Yeovil creating very little of note.

The closest Town came to a chance in the opening 45 minutes was a penalty shout, Matt Warburton was hauled down in the box but the referee waved his claims away.

The second half, like previous fixtures saw added impetus for Sarll’s side but still a lack of cutting edge.

Matt Worthington did go close in the 60th minute as his strike flew narrowly over Lainton’s goal.

As Yeovil pushed, the visitors continued to frustrate, and actually create chances of their own on the break as substitute Jordan Ponticelli was eventually smothered by A.Smith as he broke through one-on-one.

The best chance of the afternoon came as Yeovil had one last throw of the dice. Hopeful balls into the box caused havoc in the Wrexham area, but as Duffus dragged the ball into Murphy’s path, a heroic block denied the Glover number nine and secure all three points for the travelling Welshmen.
