The 23-year-old came off the bench to score a stunning 25-yard strike just five minutes later, restoring Town’s advantage which they held on to.

Lifting the green and whites above the Shrimps in the table and extending the gap between themselves and the bottom two to six points, Seager told iFollow Glovers he was happy to contribute.

“You always dream about scoring the winning goal but we spoke about it before the game, to get two wins on the bounce is massive and to go above Morecambe is perfect really.

“As soon as got the ball and turned knew I was going to shoot and as soon as it left my foot I thought it was in so just ran off celebrating just hoping the linesman would put his flag up because he was a bit behind the play, but luckily for me and for us he saw it.

“With the position we’re in at the minute, it puts us up a place so for me it’s an important goal for the club and I’m just happy I can contribute in that way.”

It’s the striker’s second goal for the club after scoring in a 4-1 defeat at Stevenage last season during a loan spell at Huish Park.

Now off the mark as a permanent Glover, Seager is ready to build on his first EFL goal of the season and give the fans more to cheer about.

“I’ve been working hard on the training ground and putting 100% effort in,” he said. “I’ve been speaking to the gaffer all the time as well and he’s been telling me that my time will come so hopefully now I can kick on, but I’m going to just keep working hard.

“The fans have had a difficult season this season with everything that’s gone on and the position we’re in as well, but they got behind the team, players and manager the same as last week and I think that helps everyone at the club a lot.”
