Yeovil striker Francois Zoko says that despite being happy with his goal against Portsmouth, he would have rather had the three points.

Zoko showed his striking instincts to open the scoring against the League Two playoff hopefuls with fifteen minutes to go, but his effort was cancelled out five minutes from time despite the visitors having Christian Burgess sent off for two yellow cards.

And the Ivorian was annoyed in not picking up the three points as he explained “It’s a big frustration for us because looking at the whole game we deserve the three points.

“I had a good one-on-one chance earlier in the game but the keeper made a good save. We did the difficult bit of going in front, but we have to remain positive. It’s a good point, we’ll take it and we’ll continue to build upon it towards the game on Tuesday.”

Despite a defeat away at Hartlepool, Zoko says that his and his teammates impressive display against Portsmouth was no real shock despite the difference in league position.

He said, “Our team is not bad at all, we take the point and we did some right things.

“At Hartlepool we were unlucky, we could have taken something there. But if you look at our last few games, it’s not a big surprise that we perform like that. For us, we know what we are doing and we will keep working hard to achieve what we need to this season.”

After scoring in the North East, the Ivorian hitman grabbed another goal to make it six for the season since joining the Glovers, and his experience proved crucial in taking the chance when it came.

“I just kept my head on the target”, said Zoko, “I don’t try and do something stupid, like kick it harder.

“The first one I have was on target, I tried to put it low. The second one I try exactly the same and it goes in with a bit of luck but that’s football. I’m happy with the goal but I’d be happier with the three points.”

With Zoko only joining the club in November, the striker has slowly built up his fitness, and explained that despite finding it tough at times, he is running through the brick wall to keep Yeovil up.

Zoko concluded, “I’m happy but when you don’t have any preseason, I’ll be honest, it’s hard some games because in our situation we need a lot of energy.

“But it doesn’t matter, we have to give everything we can. I enjoy it so much with the team, the guys are fantastic and so is the manager. We’re proving ourselves too, it’s not easy to go somewhere things aren’t going well but we try to change it.

“We’re still fighting and we’re still positive.”
