The versatile defender, who signed from Cardiff City in January until the end of the 2016/17 Sky Bet League Two season, put pen to paper on a two-year contract to commit himself to Town until the summer of 2019.

James made three appearances for the Glovers in the second half of the campaign – one of which came in front of a large crowd at Fratton Park against Portsmouth, which has left the 21-year-old relishing more game time next term.

“I’m really happy and I’m looking forward to getting started now,” he told YTFC.net.

“I’ve got a couple more weeks of training hard in the off-season but I can’t wait to get back.”

“The gaffer (Darren Way) showed a bit of trust in me last year by signing me halfway through the season so I’m looking to repay him now and play as many games as possible.

“It was a great experience for me to play 90 minutes in front of 17,000 and I want to do that as much as I can next season.”
