18th February 2015

Hi everyone, I hope you all enjoyed my blog last week regarding Gary Johnson. It really was a tough one to write but now all our focus must be on “Mission Survival.”

It has, however, been yet another disappointing week for us as Glovers fans. After a narrow defeat at Crewe Alexandra last Tuesday, the performance at Doncaster Rovers was extremely hard to take.

The most pleasing thing about the victory at home to Crawley Town was the desire and passion we showed to come from behind. Unfortunately, this was not the case at the Keepmoat Stadium. Our heads dropped and an unfortunate mistake by Artur Krysiak to gift Doncaster the lead. It is safe to say that we were completely outplayed throughout but our real issue is lack of goals.

Gozie Ugwu has been a fantastic signing but I do think he needs some help. We have already welcomed Josh Sheehan on loan from Swansea City and secured the signature of Craig Eastmond. Creative midfielders are just what we need to support the strikers and hopefully they can also add to our goal tally. I look forward to seeing if Skivo can bring in an extra defender to help us get out.

Elsewhere, it was once again FA Cup weekend. I am not sure I had quite got over the excitement of the fourth round, but Bradford City did it again. They saw off Sunderland at Valley Parade and are now just one game away from Wembley.

They have been drawn at home to Reading, so they have a real chance to make history in this competition. Carling Cup finalists in 2013 and now FA Cup quarter finalists – incredible. It really is such an amazing story but how many of you also let everyone know that we beat them both home and away?

Liverpool came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1. Goals from Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana ensured Brendan Rodgers side booked their place in the quarter finals. With many top sides having made an early exit, Liverpool will fancy their chances this year.

There’s no reason why Steven Gerrard cannot dream of lifting a trophy in his final season at the club. Their next round tie is at home to Blackburn, an extremely good fixture for the Premier League giants. Reading are also a side to watch and will want to stop Bradford’s dream after they recorded an impressive 2-1 victory against high flying Derby County at the IPro stadium.

32-year-old striker Yakubu came off the bench to score a great goal to secure victory for the Royals.

It has been one of the greatest FA Cup’s ever this year and I cannot wait to see how it turns out. Manchester United host Arsenal in the next round and what a game that will be. It guarantees another top side will exit the Cup leaving it wide open for the underdogs. Brilliant.

Goal of the week

In what has been a great career, Yakubu has yet again scored an important goal for his side. I love the build up to this goal from the rest of the team and it really is a top finish.

So we now welcome high flying Gillingham to Huish Park in what will be another huge game on Saturday. One person who I know will always be cheering on the lads, whether we are up and down, is League One supporter of the month – Pat Custard.

I would like to say a huge thank you to her for everything she does for the club and congratulations on the well-deserved recognition. Let’s all take a leaf out of Pat’s book and get behind the club we love so much! Come on lads…you can do it!

Until next week!
