The Glovers are now winless in five following the defeat to the Red Devils, and have scored just once in that sequence.

Darren Way’s side are next in action when they host Reading Under-23s on Tuesday, January 10th (7pm kick-off) and Dawson is hoping for a positive response.

“We were really poor and let the gaffer, the fans and ourselves down,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.

“We had two or three really good chances in the second half and needed one of them to go in but overall we weren’t good enough.

“We’ve been saying for the last few weeks we’ve been playing really well but points weren’t going on the board and this is eventually you get a bad performance.

“We’ll treat Reading as a big game as we want to go through to the next round and obviously put right the bad performance against Crawley.”

Dawson offered sympathy to Town’s newest recruit Jack Storer after the 2-0 loss.

The 19-year-old joined on loan from Birmingham City on January 1st and made his debut for the club at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

“I think we’ve let him down,” Dawson said.

“It wasn’t really fair on him but hopefully he can get a good week’s training under his belt and then we’ll go again.”

Tickets for Town’s first home game of 2017 can be purchased in person at the ticket office, online or by phone on 01935 847888.
