18th December 2014

This week, my football blog has to be all about our beloved Yeovil Town after we booked our place in the third round of the FA Cup.

Having beat Accrington Stanley 2-0 on Tuesday night, one of the biggest teams in the world are taking a trip to South Somerset to play at Huish Park. Manchester United, how good does that sound? Manchester United! I still cannot quite believe it. It was such a nerve wracking 90 minutes.

I couldn’t go because of work and I usually listen to the brilliant commentary, but I couldn’t even do that. I will admit as soon as I saw that Gillett had scored I did a lap of honour round my living room.

I know it was not our best performance, but with so much at stake, it was always going to be a cagey affair. Neither side would have wanted to make a mistake and I am so glad that we were able to score two great goals to seal the win.

Sometimes results are just meant to be and I feel like with our indifferent season, this was our time to shine and kick start our campaign as well as book a huge event for the club.

Accrington hit the post and missed an open goal minutes before we scored, it was a let off but it also showed resilience and belief that we were going to win. We like to score late on in the big games, Play -Off Semi – Final anyone?

With all the excitement of Tuesday, it has almost been forgotten that we travelled to Oldham and totally outclassed Lee Johnson’s side. It well and truly made up for when his side beat us 1-0 in 2013.

Lee has done such a fantastic job with them and I know they will do well – they are the Yeovil of this season. However, I am glad that Daddy knew best and we gained a much needed three points as well as four goals in one game.

I just have to mention Kieffer Moore, two substitute appearances and two goals. To come back from injury and make such an impact scoring two crucial goals is credit to his character and commitment to the club.

I have been informed by my reliable source (my dad) that Joe Edwards was brilliant on Tuesday – that was the first message I got….priorities.

Speaking of Joe (shock) I received a Christmas card from the man himself. Dad brought that and a programme back from Tuesday so thank you to the club for that…it really did make me so happy! Thank you to Joe too, I will always keep up my support!

Goal of the Week

Not only am I choosing both goals from Tuesday night, I want everyone to watch closely the celebrations and enjoy the amazing pictures the club put up from the match! It shows such passion and how much the result meant to the lads! I will admit, I had a tear in my eye!

Enjoy!

So there we are. We can all enjoy Christmas and New Year ready for the huge game on the 4th January. We also have a big game against Colchester on Saturday, so let’s get the atmosphere of Tuesday going again and cheer the lads on and out of the relegation zone…they deserve it! My next blog will be in two weeks time as it is CHRISTMAS next week, so have a fantastic day with lots of food, drink and happiness. I will see you all Boxing Day for a little match against Bristol City. Let’s upset the odds then too.
