Town head to the south coast to take on a Pompey outfit on the brink of automatic promotion to Sky Bet League One.

A crowd in the region of 17,000 at expected to be at Fratton Park for the visit of the Glovers and Way believes it will be an enjoyable game for his group to play in.

“I think the players are excited to play at Fratton Park in front of a big crowd,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.

“We can all enjoy it; the supporters going down there and myself – it’s my first time there as a manager.

“It’ll be a great environment to play in and probably a very nice day – a little bit like Exeter and I’ve got to make sure the players go there and carry out our plan.

“It’ll be a great game to play in. It’s a good opportunity for some of our younger players to compete against a team who are probably going to get promoted this year.”

Yeovil have already faced Portsmouth twice this season, winning in the Checkatrade Trophy before drawing in the last game of 2016 in front of the biggest crowd at Huish Park in the calendar year.

Since then, Paul Cook’s side have propelled themselves into the top three but Way is adamant their form won’t effect his desire to win the match.

“I’m going there to win the game as I always do,” he said.

“Hopefully we’ll come away with a good performance, get on a happy bus and be pleased with the effort we’ve put in.”

Tickets for the match can be purchased in person at the ticket office, online or by phone on 01935 847888.
