The Town boss announced last week that talks with members of his squad had begun, providing an update ahead of Yeovil’s trip to Colchester United this Saturday (5.30pm).

With only three players contracted for next season, Way revealed negotiations are taking place every day.

“We’re getting closer,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel. “Do I want to announce it (new contracts) officially now? Yes. Every day you’re speaking to agents and speaking to players.

“The agents can help me and the football club right now, they’re the important part as far as talking to the player.”

With Francois Zoko, Matty Dolan and Alex Lacey having already spoken about their futures and talks with the club, the Town boss is keen to secure their services for the 2017/18 campaign.

“Overall, they’ve had very, very good seasons. Can the players see progression and can they see their careers develop (here)?

“Well, we had (Ryan) Hedges for six months and in a short space of time he was gone for a big money move.

“What I’ve got to do is give them a better squad and a better group of players to make sure we’re successful.”

Yeovil travel to Colchester United on Saturday (5.30pm) for their final Sky Bet League Two game of the season, with tickets available to purchase on the day.
