The Glovers rose to within one point of the play-offs on Saturday after coming away from Crewe Alexandra with three points courtesy of Matty Dolan’s second half strike.
A 1-0 win is no oddity for Town, who have won nine of their last 12 matches by that exact scoreline, something Way is not surprised at.
“Tactically, the way the lads managed the game (against Crewe) – they frustrated their players, their supporters – having said that they had one or two chances and on another day they could’ve gone in but the team is very strong and very resilient and I think these 1-0 wins are no fluke.
“The way the players work the system; it’s well drilled, it’s well organised and is a good system that works. I don’t know how many (1-0 wins) we had when I took over, I think it was nine, so it’s very organised. I want everyone to really believe now that we can push to the play-offs and see what happens.”
After a fifth win in seven matches and a fourth consecutive cleansheet, Way is still cautious of complacency whilst still fuelling the increasing belief around Huish Park.
“I said we weren’t going to win the league off of last week’s performance – that’s why I mentioned complacency – and we’re not going to win the league on this performance but what we have got is a consistent group of players that are turning up every week and putting in real good performances and getting results.
“That’s the main thing, football is all about winning – as a football manager you keep your job if you win – and we’re building something special at the Football Club and the players have bought into that and I feel very proud to be Yeovil Town manager.”
Over 170 Yeovil fans made the trip to Cheshire on Saturday to support the Glovers making noise throughout the League Two fixture.
Having shared the ecstasy alongside the Town players at full-time, Way is pleased fans can now begin to believe.
“I think you could see the celebrations at the end and the way they sang throughout the game, they had a great time and they’ve been very supportive to all the players and very supportive of me as a manager.
“It’s so pleasing because them witnessing that today they can start believing and they deserve it.”
