14th June 2017

The local club are celebrating their 10th season in grassroots football and to mark the occasion are holding a fundraising event.

A host of former Glovers such as Andy Lindegaard, Warren Patmore and Terry Cotton will be in attendance to help raise funds towards the care of local sportsman Matt Fricker.

As a result of a shower fall, Mr Fricker suffers with brain AVM (arteriovenous malformation) which has caused bleeding on the brain and a series of strokes. The 32-year-old needs 24-hour care and is currently being cared for at Dene Barton hospital in Taunton.

It is a small 39-bed community hospital which serves the whole of Taunton Deane and the surrounding area.

The Friends of Dene Barton Community Hospital are a small group who aim to raise funds to support patient facilities at the hospital and to provide amenities for both patients and staff in order to improve their environment. It is also W&M Chinnock FC’s aim to improve general public awareness of the valuable facility in the community.

West and Middle Chinnock Football Club, who play in the Premier Division of the Perry Street and District League have raised in excess of £10,000 for charity in their ten-year history.

The match on July 8th will kick-off at 5pm at Oxleaze playing fields and will be followed by an evening at the Muddled Man, West Chinnock.

There will be a raffle on the night which includes a signed Arsenal shirt from the Gunners’ last season at Highbury and much more.

If you would like to make a donation of any kind, please email Matt Alford on matt.alford40@btinternet.com.
