Involved in all manner of roles and positions, the club wouldn’t be able to function without the help of many dedicated volunteers and committed staff members.
Last week, Darren Way helped the club thank the first set of unsung heroes, before meeting a further two heroes prior to Saturday’s clash with Stevenage at Huish Park.
One of which, Malcolm Watts (pictured below with Darren Way), has been involved with Yeovil Town for 34 years!
Working on a matchday, Malcolm is in charge of the players’ entrance, ensuring only the right people enter and helping away teams both arrive and depart without hassle. The job also means Malcolm has overheard some ‘interesting’ team-talks over the years!
Making sure visiting club’s receive the necessary welcome and keeping the dressing rooms clear of unauthorised personnel, the matchday operation would be severely hampered without Malcolm’s hard work.
Remaining in close proximity to the players’ entrance, supporter Gareth (pictured at the top of the article) has been following the Green and Whites for 30 years.
The loyal supporter is one of the first people at Huish Park on a matchday, waiting by the players’ entrance to give the Glovers squad a warm welcome on their arrival.
An ever-present come rain or shine, Gareth was invited in by Darren Way prior to Town’s final home game of the season last weekend for a tour and a chat to thank him for his support.
The unsung hero series will continue in the lead up to Yeovil’s final game of the season away at Colchester United, but on behalf of everyone at Yeovil Town Football Club, thanks to Malcolm and Gareth for their efforts this year.
