Town’s number nine netted a brace prior to the break before grabbing a third after the restart.

Late on, Yoann Arquin rounded off a night to remember by heading home against his former employers to see the green and whites pick up their first three points of the campaign.

Speaking to iFollow Glovers, Fisher feels the result matches recent performances and acts as a sign of intent.

“It sends a message to the league,” he said. “We were unlucky in the first game going down to nine men, we could’ve nicked it last week and on Friday we stamped our authority on the game and did well in both boxes.

“Notts County are a very strong side and they had strong waves of pressures but we dealt with it very well and I felt we were always in control.

“On a personal note, it’s nice to bounce back from Tuesday night. It’s a great three points for the team and there are lots of positives to take all round.”

Grabbing his first career hat-trick in Nottinghamshire, Fisher tripled his tally for the season in his first league start.

Spreading praise to his team-mates the 28-year-old is now hoping for a positive campaign.

“Huge credit must go to the team. It’s nice to be putting them in at one end but I can’t do it if the other 10 players aren’t doing their jobs.

“It’s very early days but the signs are good. We’re only three games in and we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves because there’s a lot of hard work to come.

“We still have lots to improve on but this is the first step in the right direction and hopefully we can be looking up and not down.”
