Further goals from Yoann Arquin, Diallang Jaiyesimi, Olufela Olomola and Carl Dickinson completed the rout as Town took no prisoners to record the biggest away victory in the division since 2011.

Green scored a goal in each half against his former employers to open his account for this season.

Speaking to iFollow Glovers, Green praised his fellow attacking players: “With the players we’ve got, we’ve got such a dangerous team going forward so we always feel confident attacking.

“We always feel like we’re going to score as well, with the players we’ve got going forward it’s just unbelievable. It feels good to be in the team at the moment.

“What we did training wise during the week paid off and the game plan came out nicely and at 6-0, you can’t complain.”

After picking up a red card in the opening game of the season, Green returned to the squad and made two substitute appearances after his three-match suspension.

He replaced the injured Wes McDonald in the home fixture with Stevenage and has kept his place in the starting XI since, but with McDonald and Rhys Browne back to fitness, the 23-year-old knows the importance of performing well.

“You’ve got to keep putting in the performances, you can’t slip up because you know that you’re going to struggle to get back in the team if you lose your place.

“The feeling around the club is something that last year wasn’t there so this year we all feel really good.

“I’m just trying to put that red card in the past. It’s not something that I would have liked to happen but it’s just learning, it was my first red card so I’m trying to move on from it.”
