12th December 2017

The Glovers drew 1-1 at Vale Park 10 days ago to force the return fixture with a home tie against Bradford City awaiting the eventual winners.

Jordan Green’s last-minute equaliser set up the replay in Somerset after Tom Pople gave the Valiants a second half lead.

Tuesday’s encounter will be Vale’s second trip of the season Huish Park, having drawn the Sky Bet League Two meeting 1-1.

Pope was the scorer once again back in September, with Otis Khan cancelling out the striker’s opener.

The two sides come into the cup clash following varying fortunes at the weekend, with Town looking to bounce back from defeat and Port Vale looking to build on victory.

In terms of personnel, Darren Way can once again call upon Sid Nelson if required, after the defender completed his three-match suspension.

Ryan Dickson (neck) could also feature, but the Glovers will still be without Rhys Browne (ankle) and Oscar Gobern (hamstring).

Head-to-head
Town have won three of their 10 encounters against Port Vale.

The first meeting between the two sides came as early as the 2005/06 season with both sides winning their respective home fixtures 1-0.

Since then, Justin Cochrane’s early goal back in 2007 saw Town pick up a 1-0 win at Huish Park.

Officials
Gavin Ward (Surrey) will be the man in the middle at Huish Park.

In what will be his 23rd match of the season, it’ll be his second officiating a game involving the Glovers having taken charge of opening day defeat at Luton Town.

On Tuesday night, Mr. Ward will be assisted by Michael Webb (Surrey) and Mark Derrien (Dorset) with Brett Huxtable acting as fourth official (Devon).
