Second half goals from Alex Jakubiak and Alex Rodman were enough to get the win for the Gas meaning that the Glovers cannot qualify from the group.

After creating history by going 573 minutes without conceding a goal earlier in the season, Way would like his defence to revert back to their early season form.

Speaking to YTFC.net he said: “We are disappointed with our defending in the box. We’ve created history not so long ago and there has been one or two changes within that backline.

“We talked about the development, how quick Omar Sowunmi became a quality player when there was probably one or two who didn’t feel he was at that level.

“I’ve got two centre-halves at the moment and it’s important that I man-manage the situation because I think they’re good players. They’re going to make mistakes but with the last two games its important you’ve got discipline in the box.”

Captain Sowunmi picked up an injury in the dying moments of the 1-1 draw with MK Dons last month and has been ruled out for 10-12 weeks.

Now entering a ten-day break for international duty, Way is expecting that on the return his injury list will be much shorter.

“What this break has done has allowed me to get two or three key players who were very influential at the start of the season and excited the supporters back.

“I don’t want to go on about it, but then number of changes and injuries we’ve had to deal with I appreciate the supporters being understanding.

“We should’ve never drawn that game against Exeter. One ball whizzes in the box and they equalise after we’ve had a number of chances, similar to tonight.

“These teams are nothing special and it’s very close and unfortunately since we’ve had a number of players out we’ve made mistakes in the box which has led to goals.”
