Gold Omotayo struck late on to claim a 1-0 win for the Shakers after both Tom James and Jordan Green received red cards in the second half to leave the visitors with nine men.

With ill-discipline tainting the 2017/18 campaign, Way is calling on his players to take greater responsibility for their actions when on the pitch.

A lack of discipline cost us that game,” he told iFollow Glovers. “I like to call my players men and I thought the players that remained on the pitch played like men. But we’re very disappointed with that lack of discipline and if it was me today, I think the players need to take the responsibility of that discipline.

“It’s concerning, but if you look at the majority of the players that are getting sent off, Omar Sowunmi, Bevis Mugabi, Jordan Green are all 22 or 23-year-olds and they have to grow up. They have to understand the game management.

“I can explain to the players how poor the discipline is, but with the names that I’ve mentioned, there’s a lot of young players that are getting sent off.

“Yes, it is frustrating and I understand that. My players still showed passion, and maybe too much passion at times but without passion, you cannot succeed.”

Town are next in action on Saturday when Mansfield Town visit Huish Park. Tickets remain on sale with more information found here.
