Dominating for large periods of the match, the Glovers had a goal controversially disallowed in the first-half before missing a penalty after the break.

Debutant Villans keeper Andre Moreira also pulled off a string of fine saves before Conor Hourihane snatched victory for the visitors inside the last 15 minutes.

Having more than matched their Championship opponents, Town’s boss feels the display highlighted what his side are capable of.

“We move on, but it’s nice the performance was in front of the public on Sky because this team is a good team,” he told iFollow Glovers.

“That was a true reflection of what our team can do to an opposition and it’s not the first time we’ve seen it, we had a had great pre-season.

“I thought overall, the way we played as a team and individuals caused them real problems. The team looked strong.”

Cheered on by over 4,000 Town supporters throughout the Glovers received plenty of praise from around the ground at full-time.

Staying out on the pitch to thank the fans for their vocal support, Way believes that unity is once again returning to Huish Park.

“Our club motto is ‘Achieve by Unity’, but what we saw was every single player and supporter overachieving by unity.

“There are always one or two individuals at any football club who try and destabailise what you’re trying to build, but I’m really excited.

“What really pleased me was to see the reaction of the supporters after because that’s the old Yeovil.

“We’re all working together. If you keep close together and work together, you’ll succeed.”
