The Glovers dominated proceedings in the opening 45 minutes and took a half-time lead thanks to Jordan Green’s close range strike.

Fielding a starting eleven that featured just one trialist, Town more than matched their Championship opponents going into the halfway stage.

A raft of changes at the break saw the hosts finish with seven trialists, two Academy players and just two contracted members of the first-team.

After a late comeback by the Swans, Way was still left pleased with the first half performance.

“We played a lot of trialists in the second half so that not really much to go on,” he told YTFC.net. “The first half performance was terrific and we tried to put our strategy in place.

“When you put one in place you’re looking to see if you can see it and I thought for large spells you could see what we’ve been working on at the training ground.

“For me thought it was the individual performances; you couldn’t tell whether Green was a Swansea or Yeovil player and that’s really pleasing to see up against fantastic opposition who’ve just come out of the Premier League.

“I’m really pleased with the way we passed the ball and also how we got back behind the ball and blocked and tackled because they’re things you look for to be successful.”

Having rung the changes, Town’s boss was still pleased with aspects of the second half performance.

Notably, first-year scholar Tyrique Spencer-Clarke – making his first appearance in Green & White – caught the eye of Way.

“You’ve got to be astute in your thought process which is why they changed a number of players in the second half and that’s what we had to do because it’s important to protect the starting eleven we had out there on the day.

“We still had some good individual performances in the second half; Tyrique, our young scholar, played very well up against a really experienced Swansea team.”

The Glovers are next in action on Tuesday 17th July when Bristol Rovers visit Huish Park. Tickets are on sale NOW.
