The Glovers come into the first ever competitive meeting between the two sides off the back of a 2-2 draw with Mansfield on Saturday, with an encouraging display giving plenty of reason for optimism.

For the Villans, they maintained their 100% start to the campaign at the weekend with a dramatic 3-2 win at home to Wigan.

Lining up against the Championship outfit, Way is hoping for his side to make the most of the occasion.

“We’ll make sure we have loads of energy,” he told YTFC.net. “We want the players to be brave, show courage in possession and enjoy the moment because it’s a great opportunity live on Sky Sports.

“For the team going up against Villa, it’s a chance to test themselves against a top team with top players.

“Any Yeovil team that has been successful or overachieved has had a real good team spirit and loads of energy. That’s two things I think our team is displaying at the moment.”

Having reached the semi-final of the Checkatrade Trophy and fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup in 2017/18, Town will be targeting another season of cup success.

Seeing off a number of higher league teams in the last campaign the Glovers manager knows how important the cup competitions can be.

“We’ve had a number of good cup runs. The pressure is on me to make sure we keep the club financially robust so we know how important it is.

“We brought in over £1m with the Manchester United game and getting to Checkatrade Trophy semi-final last year, so we’ve got to make sure there’s a lot of effort, energy and no fear shown.

“It’s a great opportunity to go up against a very successful manager and a very successful football club.

“Steve Bruce has so much class and is a true professional with how he deals with every problem,” Way concluded. “He must have a very good way of working and is someone I’m looking forward to talking to either before or after.”
