Bevis Mugabi’s second-half header saw the Glovers hold their League One opponents, building on Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bristol City and narrow defeat to Swansea City.

Putting in another encouraging performance in front of the club’s home supporters the Green & Whites returned to Somerset after a short training camp in South Wales.

Pleased with progress during pre-season, Way told YTFC.net: “We had a lot of chances in the first half but I was disappointed because a set-play undid us.

“We could’ve scored two or three up against a good team but overall I thought we were fantastic.

“We brought on three of the young players and with Gaby (Rogers) he’s got really good technical ability in his left foot and Tyrique (Spencer-Clarke) and Danny (Ojo) came on too. We’ve incorporated the young players within the squad and you see they’re developing at a really fast rate.

“Everything is going well and we’re having a very good pre-season but I said that last year and we took a hit in the first game so I’ll make sure I’m aware of that.”

With under three weeks until the start of the new season, he admits that the squad is not a finished product.

A number of trialists were on display against the Gas but Way is calling for calm with regard to player recruitment.

“We had trialists and it’s important to give them that opportunity,” he said. “I’ve had one or two of them training with me but I’ll have to sit down with them and see how we move forward.

“I’ve got three loans available and I’ve got real quality from my loans (previously). I’ve got to be patient; don’t panic, you can see the areas that need a bit of reinforcement and I’ll probably bring in one or two and do my best to be ready when the window closes.”
