The Glovers parted company with four of its 2017/18 squad earlier this month, with a further six returning to their parent clubs after the expiry of loan spells in Somerset.

However, 14 players remain contracted at Huish Park with Omar Sowunmi and Oscar Gobern both offered new deals to remain in Green & White.

With the summer transfer window now open, Town’s boss has spoken to YTFC.net regarding activity: “We’re in a much more healthier and positive position than last summer when we were left with just three players.

“That left us needing to entirely rebuild the squad which, encouragingly, is not something we need to do this time around.

I know this is an anxious time of year for supporters who are eager to see signings, but behind the scenes there’s plenty happening and we’re not standing still whilst recruitment takes place around us.

“We’ve made no secret of declaring our ambition to finish in the higher echelons of the division next season and in order to do that we’ve been talking to a number of household names who fit that bill, such as Ed Upson – who’s now opted to stay in League One – and Craig Alcock who we’re still talking to,” he said.

Moving onto the subject of contract offers, Way continued: “Regarding Omar, talks are ongoing but we’ve offered him a fantastic deal to remain part of what we’re trying to build here.

“It’s an offer that replicates how we want to secure the spine of our side for 2018/19, with Stuart Nelson already secured and our midfield and forward options at a positive point.

“Given where we’re at in terms of the date, we want to talks to turn into pen onto paper and therefore we’ll seek a conclusion one way or the other in the near future.”

Switching attention to Yeovil’s contracted players who’ve attracted transfer speculation, the Glovers manager issued a final update.

“Tom James was linked with a number of clubs towards the end of last season, but he’s a player we want at the heart of our campaign next year and so far our valuation hasn’t been met for his services.

“We all know what happened with Otis Khan during the January transfer window, but the club hasn’t received any fresh offers and at present Otis will remain a Yeovil Town player for 2018/19.”
