Martin McConachie and sons Ryan and Harry will stop at every club in the top four tiers of English football to collect signed items in aid of the Adam Stansfield Foundation and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

The trio will also visit two of Stansfield’s previous clubs – Elmore and Hereford – as well as a number of other grounds including Wembley.

Their trip will begin at Huish Park on Saturday before ending at Exeter City’s St James Park two weeks later.

The Adam Stansfield Foundation is a charity attributed to the former Yeovil striker, who sadly passed away from bowel cancer in 2010 aged 31, which ‘hopes to highlight and raise awareness illnesses caused by bowel cancer’. 

"I did the same trip in 1998 on my own and thoroughly enjoyed it. I spoke to my youngest two about it and they were inspired by it,” Martin told the Western Gazette.

"I’ve been to around 20 grounds with them, as Yeovil fans. They love new grounds and it’s something that we’ve been talking about for a long time.

"We’re really excited to be raising money for the charities. It’s going to be a long trip but it will be worth it, and our main aim is to enjoy it."

He added: "I only ever met Adam once, and that was before the game against Chester which was our last game in non-league football, and hopefully forever!

"I got his autograph that day, and from having spoken to people that knew Adam well I’ve never heard anyone that had a bad word to say about him.

"He was a hero of ours when he played for Yeovil and it was an easy decision for us to support the foundation."

The trio have been helped on their journey in the form of sponsorship by Gulf UK, Redrow Homes and Practical Car & Van Rental, funding the cost of their travel, hire car and accommodation.
