Yeovil Town must repay their supporters’ faith by showing greater effort at Huish Park according to keeper Marek Stech. The Glovers return to home soil tonight to face Wycombe Wanderers in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, ten days after a dismal 3-1 npower League One loss to Carlisle United.

Wycombe midfielder Matt Spring was shown a straight red card in the 28th minute for a challenge on Gavin Williams and the Chairboys found themselves 2-0 down at the break thanks to efforts from Ed Upson and Sam Foley. Chairboys were second best in the first half, but were much improved after the break and Matt McClure crashed a shot against the bar as they looked for a way back into the contest. Marvin McCoy returned to the Wycombe line-up for the first time since fracturing a fibula and damaging ankle ligaments in the Capital One Cup game at Watford back in early August. Matt Spring, Jesse Kewley-Graham, Ade Azeez and Junior Morias also started, while Yeovil had former Wanderers loanee Marek Stech in goal and Reuben Reid amongst their substitutes.

Yeovil eased into the southern semi-finals of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with a comfortable 2-0 win over 10-man Wycombe. First half goals from Ed Upson and Sam Foley ensured Gary Johnson’s side avoided an upset against the League Two Chairboys, who had Matt Spring sent off in the first half. The Glovers started the game brightly, with Byron Webster, James Hayter and Upson all spurning early chances. 

Two first half goals were enough to effortlessly send Yeovil Town into the next round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at the expense of Wycombe Wanderers. The hosts barely broke sweat at Huish Park in front of just 1,771 fans as the Chairboys offered little resistance to their npower League One opposition.

Gary Johnson was upset his Yeovil side didn’t put Wycombe to the sword after the Glovers eased into the next round of the JPT. The Somerset side booked their place in the southern area semi-finals after first half goals from midfield duo Ed Upson and Sam Foley saw off the Chairboys, who had Matt Spring sent off after half an hour.

Manager Gary Johnson says his Yeovil players still need to improve despite progressing to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area semi-finals for the first time in their history. Goals from Ed Upson and Sam Foley gave them a 2-0 win over 10-man Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday. But Johnson told BBC Somerset: "Some of the lads in that dressing room deserve to be there, but one or two don’t. A couple of the lads haven’t got what we are after at the moment." 

Gary Johnson has conceded some of his Yeovil Town players are under-performing and that work has to be done to bring the squad up to standard. The Glovers entertain Notts County in npower League One after cruising to the area semi-finals of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday.

Grace Rapp’s double fired Yeovil Town Ladies to a 3-0 victory over Gillingham, lifting them to third in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division. Laura Bray set the Glovers on their way after 17 minutes at Wells City’s Athletics Ground, bursting in from the right wing to drill home Justine Lorton’s cross. Bray’s header moments later created a two-goal cushion before she nodded in again after the interval to put the result beyond doubt.

Yeovil Town are back in npower League One action on Saturday when they play host to Notts County at Huish Park in a 3pm kick-off. The Glovers will be looking to return to winning ways in the league – their last outing a fortnight ago resulted in a 3-1 defeat at home to Carlisle United. But Yeovil will be in confident mood following Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Southern Area section which has put them through to the semi-finals. 

Yeovil’s Ed Upson says his side’s 2-0 win over Wycombe will hold them in good stead for the visit of Notts County this weekend. Keith Curle’s men have not lost an away game this season and the former Ipswich trainee knows what a threat the visitors, six points above 12th-place Yeovil, will pose. But he believes their clean sheet and professional display against Wanderers was a helpful warm-up.
