The Glovers ended their eight-match winless run in Sky Bet League Two with a 2-1 win over the promotion-chasing Pilgrims.

Plymouth had lost just once in their last seven league games going into the yesterday’s encounter and Lacey was proud of his team-mates determination to secure three points.

He told YTFC’s official YouTube channel: “I thought the team played excellent, really dug in and showed fantastic grit and the togetherness we’ve got.

“They’re a big team and with them second in the league it was always going to be a tough game.

“Going from first to second (Doncaster Rovers to Argyle) it was never going to be an easy week so to get a win has been a very good ending to it.

“It was a really big effort from the team and I’m really delighted with the win.”

Lacey grabbed Town’s second goal of the night turning home Matty Dolan’s low free kick at the front post.

It was only the 23-year-old’s third career goal and he insists adding more goals to his game is something he is keen to achieve.

“I’m delighted with it,” he said.

“We’ve worked on set-pieces all week and it was my job to run to the front post.

“It took a little nick off the defender, and I’m not going to say it just hit me and went in but it basically did!

“A centre-back who scores goals is a big asset to the team and if I can score more goals that would be great.”
