Town saw off high-flying Plymouth Argyle 2-1 at Huish Park to return to winning ways, a feeling the Glovers manager wants to continue.
The Green and Whites travel to 18th placed Hartlepool United this Saturday and Way says the players are targeting a run of victories in the division.
Speaking to YTFC’s official YouTube channel, he said: “The players are constantly driving the dressing room, the culture and the environment they come into each day.
“The players are looking to go on a run, and why not? I feel in a number of games – the Exeter game we had a penalty decision (not given), Portsmouth we had a one-on-one and Otis (Khan) hit the crossbar – it could’ve been different.
“That’s why I said ‘we’ve been close’, but we have to make sure our performance levels remain high.”
Town lost the reverse fixture at Huish Park 2-1 back in September, but travel to Victoria Park unbeaten in their last two matches away from home.
Buoyed by three deadline day signings and the potential return to fitness of midfielder Alex Lawless, Way believes there’s a good feeling amongst the squad.
“There is a buzz,” he said. “I always say football is a game played on emotions and a win certainly helps.
“There’s a buzz about the place but I have to have my eyes wide open and get my team selection right.
“We lost to Doncaster but didn’t get too down, and we’re certainly not going to get too upbeat about beating Plymouth because there’s a big job to do on Saturday and the task is relentless.”
