Darren Sarll is hoping that his side can maintain their winning momentum this weekendafter sealing their first National League win of the season last time out against Bromley.

Goals from Rhys Murphy and Joe Quigley ensured that the Glovers sealed an important 3 points at Hayes Lane, where they will now be looking to build a worthy run as they enter a well-congested festive period.

The green and whites return to action following a period of self-isolation after a positive COVID-19 test within the Yeovil Town squad, however, Sarll insists that his squad have been hard at work to prepare themselves in the best possible way for this game during the self-isolation period.

“We were back in training last Saturday, but we’ve been in contact with players for the full isolation period, he said.

I never subscribed to the full principles of the first lockdown period with the use of zoom meetings, but we thought as a squad it was important that we used that method to try to keep the same fitness levels up and better them ahead of a mad Christmas period.

“We were with the players every day, giving them home-workouts to complete, tough home workouts may I add, so that was a way in which we could keep on top of the players instead of being on the training field all week.

“We tried to keep that bond within the group especially with the new players as we wanted to ensure that they continued their integration with the team, so it was a lot to do over the period but routine that kept us all focused and motivated throughout.”

Sarll’s side had a National League fixture and an FA Trophy fixture both scheduled before the positive Coronavirus case occurred, but the gaffer believes that his side will still have huge momentum going into the game this weekend despite the long break.

“I don’t think that momentum ends from the last game. You always take that momentum from the last game into the next game regardless of the period in between and I’ve always been a believer of that.

“In some ways this period can be seen as a benefit to us as it’s given us time to rest some of the players who have been heavenly overloaded up to this point and has also gave us much more time to prepare for this fixture and reflect on our previous performances

In our last performance we were very good from recovering from minor errors and we were very strong and determined to winWe were very professional on that occasion too and I was pleased with the winning attitude of the players, their work ethic, and organisation which resulted in some very good individual performances. Hopefully, we can continue that on Saturday.”
