Carl Dickinson offered an honest assessment of Yeovil Town‘s display in a 2-1 defeat to Sutton United on Tuesday evening.

Harry Beautyman’s double secured an emphatic away win for the London based side at Huish Park.

Joe Quigley netted in the first half in an attempt for Darren Sarll’s side to produce a magnificent turn around, but Yeovil fell to their second defeat of the campaign.

Reflecting on the result, Carl Dickinson told BBC Somerset: “We didn’t do enough it’s as simple as that. We can’t play a first half like we did and give so many people the opportunities we did tonight. We need to do more and it’s as simple as that to be honest.

“I think we’ve got to give more for each other because the start hasn’t been great and it’s not a true reflection of our quality but tonight, I’m just honestly lost for words, I don’t know what to say on behalf of tonight’s performance.”

The defender added: “It sounds cliché, but as an experienced player you’ve literally got to keep your head down and ensure that everyone is as positive as they can be around the camp after a defeat and performance like this.

“There were bits that were decent tonight, but we’ve got to do way more individually, collectively, and we’ve got to be a lot harder to play against if we’re to start picking up some good results. The only way we can affect that is on the training pitch, so we’ve got to make sure everyone is at it and focused for Saturday.”

With the games coming thick and fast over a busy period, the Glovers return to action this Saturday as Chesterfield make the trip to Huish Park, and Dickinson is eager for a response from him and his team following last night’s performance.

“We just got move on from this and go into the next training session and work our socks off again for another tough game on Saturday.

“Looking ahead to the weekend we’ve got to put this behind us and go again. We’ve got to have the right mindset going into the game and make sure that we do the simple things much better.

“Saturday is going to be an even bigger game for us as we want to put right the wrongs and show everyone what we are capable of and why we reached the positions we did last season. We owe a massive performance to the gaffer but most importantly the fans.”
