Hi everyone. It is now just 3 days to go until the season starts!

I have been counting down for quite a while now and I really cannot wait to see the boys in action.

This season is crucial for us as a club. The last two years have been tough and we have been used to losing.

Paul Sturrock is a man who is not used to losing and I am sure he will get the lads up for the new campaign.

I am sat here reading The Guardian and they have tipped us for a top three finish. At this stage of the season there are so many different opinions about which club will finish where and I have read that we are going to be relegated, promoted and finish in mid – table.

We know better than most that predictions mean nothing and it is all about how the squad perform every Saturday.

So, this week I thought I would look at a club in each division that I think could be the shock of the season.

Premier League

Norwich City

Having spent a year away from the Promised Land, Norwich City bounced back to the Premier League in style with a fantastic second half of the season. The Canaries have added to their squad including 23 – year – old winger, Robbie Brady, who joins from Hull. His Premier League experience and youth could make him the perfect fit for the newly promoted side. They have strengthened in the middle, also adding Youssof Mulumbu to their side following his release from West Brom. With Cameron Jerome edging closer to fitness, Norwich may just have enough to impress and learn from their last stint in the top flight.

Championship

Charlton Athletic

The Addicks may have left all their business until relatively late but they have assembled a squad capable of competing at the top level. Midfielder Jordan Cousins has committed to a further four years with the club, at 21- years – old , could have easily moved on. Charlton have recruited a number of international players including Zakarya Bergdich who has played 17 times for Morocco and spent last season in Spain. Ahmed Kashi has also made a move to the Valley and the midfielder is an Algerian international who joins from French Club Metz. After a tough few seasons for the club, this could be the year they push on.

League One

Scunthorpe United

The Iron had a campaign of inconsistency last season, flirting with both relegation and the play – off places. A poor run of form meant that towards the end of the season they were cautiously looking over their shoulder. However, this season they should be aiming for higher than their mediocre 16th place finish. Glovers fans will be no stranger to a couple of their players. Paddy Madden will need no introduction and he will be looking to better his 16 goal tally. Kevin Dawson’s brother Stephen has also joined the Iron and their loan signing Luke Williams has made a permanent move, adding to their front line. Watch out for a potential play – off story!

League Two

Barnet

Barnet are fresh from an impressive season in the conference and will be hoping they can replicate some of that form in the football league. John Akinde scored an impressive 32 goals in the national league last season and he will be a force to be reckoned with. Experienced defender Michael Nelson has also joined the club on a one year deal and has made 600 League Two appearances and could be a key player in the side. Clubs are known to do well following promotion from the Conference and Barnet could continue their party this season.

With our trip to Exeter just days away, I must mention Adam Stansfield. With the anniversary of his tragic death just days after his two former sides meet again, I like to think he had something to do with it.

It is going to be an emotional day as we join together to celebrate his life and his achievements in both an Exeter and Yeovil shirt. He was taken from us far too early and I hope we do him justice by putting on a real performance. No doubt Adam would want a draw between his two former sides but he would be extremely proud of how well the fans join together.

Rest in peace Adam. We will never forget you.
