Aston Villa v Sunderland
Stat: Seven of the last nine meetings between these two sides have gone under 2.5 goals
Last meeting: Aston Villa 6-1 Sunderland (April 29, 2013)
Form: After going four games without scoring, Villa have netted four in their last two outings, two of which came in their second-half fight-back against local rivals West Brom on Monday. However, Sunderland have improved under Gus Poyet with two wins in their last four. The Black Cats remain bottom of the Premier League, though, with Sky Bet making the hosts odds-on to win this one.
Most likely scoreline according to Sky Bet’s odds: Aston Villa 1-0 Sunderland (11/2)
Cardiff v Arsenal
Stat: Cardiff have not beaten Arsenal since 1961, having played them 11 times in all competitions since.
Last meeting: Arsenal 4-0 Cardiff (February 16, 2009)
Form: Cardiff will be buoyed by their last-gasp draw at home to Manchester United last weekend, but in Arsenal they welcome the Premier League leaders. The Gunners bounced back from defeat at Manchester United by brushing Southampton aside on Saturday, though eight of Cardiff’s 13 points so far have come at home.
Most likely scoreline according to Sky Bet’s odds: Cardiff 0-1 Arsenal (11/2)
Everton v Stoke
Stat: Each of the last eight Premier League games between these two have produced two goals or less.
Last meeting: Everton 1-0 Stoke (March 30, 2013)
Form: Everton shouldn’t be too disheartened by Liverpool’s last-gasp equaliser in the Merseyside derby last weekend as the Toffees were behind twice. They’ve still only lost once in the Premier League under Roberto Martinez, less than any other side. Sky Bet make them odds-on favourites here, but Stoke will take confidence from their first win in nine league games last time out.
Most likely scoreline according to Sky Bet’s odds: Everton 1-0 Stoke (9/2)
Norwich v Crystal Palace
Stat: Tony Pulis, who takes charge of his first Palace game here, has never been relegated in 21 years of management
Last meeting: Crystal Palace 0-0 Norwich (Jan 29, 2011)
Form: Palace defied the odds last weekend by beating Hull on their own turf with 10 men, and that was under the guidance of caretaker boss Keith Millen. Tony Pulis will take charge for this one and the so-called honeymoon period could take over if Norwich continue to struggle for goals. Despite investing heavily in attack in the summer, the Canaries average less than a goal a game.
Most likely scoreline according to Sky Bet’s odds: Norwich 1-1 Crystal Palace
West Ham v Fulham
Stat: Fulham have lost eight of their 12 Premier League matches this season
Last Meeting: Fulham 3-1 West Ham (Jan 30, 2013)
Form: Martin Jol is one of Sky Bet’s front-runners in the next Premier League manager to go betting market, and the pressure really will be on if Fulham lose again here. West Ham haven’t been too much better, though, as they’re without a win in five and sit just above the Cottagers in the table on goal difference. It’s a tough one to call, but home advantage makes the Hammers Sky Bet’s 5/6 favourites.
Most likely scoreline according to Sky Bet’s odds: West Ham 1-1 Fulham (11/2)
Barnsley v Birmingham
Stat: Both teams have score in four of the last five meetings between the two clubs
Last meeting: Barnsley 1-2 Birmingham (Dec 26, 2012)
Form: Both teams are struggling but the visitors are four points better off in the Sky Bet Championship table. The Tykes are without a win in their last four and have only registered two in the league all season, while the Blues are looking for their fifth win. The visitors will be encouraged by their recent away success at Huddersfield, which was followed by a credible home draw with promotion-chasing Blackpool.
Most likely scoreline according to Sky Bet’s odds: Barnsley 1-1 Birmingham (6/1)
