The 27-year-old came off the bench to score with his first-touch at the weekend to open his account with the Glovers.

Arriving from Scottish Premier League outfit Motherwell 10 days ago, Fisher was pleased to find the back of the net in just his third appearance.

“Personally, it’s nice to get off the mark early,” he told iFollow Glovers. “Strikers always want to get off the mark and it’s important the team wins, so if you can both that’s great.

“Ultimately, it’s a team game but on a personal note, you always want to do the best for yourself as well.

“Sometimes it can be in the back of your mind whether you have or haven’t (scored), but hopefully it’s the first of many.”

Travelling down from north of the border, the former Mansfield and Oxford United forward is set for a first spell in English football for two years.

With three games since joining and a fourth on Tuesday night in the form of the Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final against Fleetwood, Town’s new number 18 is looking forward to the challenge.

He said: “(The number of games) is in stark contrast to north of the border where you have a little bit more time between games, but I relish the opportunity to get as much game time as possible and repay the faith the club has shown in me.

“It’s been a long time coming to be within a couple hours of home. I’ve got nothing but respect for all the places I’ve been in the last few years but I’m here now and looking forward to trying to make an impact on League Two.”
