Plans to enable development on and off the pitch at Huish Park Stadium complex and to provide wide ranging community use facilities have been submitted to Planners at South Somerset District Council on behalf of Yeovil Town Football Club and Yeovil Town Holdings Limited.

The move follows extensive, well-attended public consultation earlier this year.  The club’s planning application agent, David Bell, said “Discussions with local residents, businesses and football supporters have enabled modifications to be included in some parts of the plans. The focus is still very much on improving the spectator experience on and off the field and minimising any impact on the local area.”

Chairman John Fry said: “Many positive actions have been taken in the run up to the start of the new season. This is an absolutely vital part of our strategy to take the club forward.  We feel that the new application is a big step forward and is of enormous importance to the town, district and club. It is crucial that we guarantee the longer-term financial future and stability of the Club. This application proposes valuable amenities for both the football club and the community.  We are now in a position to push forward with our ambition to go up the leagues and we are interested to hear and discuss the views of all stakeholders including residents, fans and interested investors.”

David added: “The planning application has been submitted but we expect the formal validation process to take another week or so. We have been discussing matters with the Council since the public consultation and I am impressed with the professional attitude demonstrated. It is a complex application and is a bit different to the usual application style.  It is too early to expect a detailed, formal response from the Council Officers but we will make information available whenever possible.”
