Following the safe arrival of the cyclists from Paris, Huish Park played host to a Veterans match featuring a large contingent of ex-Yeovil Town Players.

The two sides were managed by Terry Cotton and Tom White but in a very one sided affair  with three, Tom White’s team ran out easy 6-1 winners with  three goals from Ben "Smudger" Smith, and one each for Tom White, Harry Turner and Andrew Wildish.
There wasn’t much cheer for Terry Cotton’s side apart from Paul Thorpe’s thunderous volley that see keeper Dan Cabell clutching at thin air.
A great goal. But the same could be said of Ben Smith’s second, a delightful lob from almost on the goal line beating Andy Buse all ends up.
Other ex players involved were Dean Birkby, Paul Thorpe, Tony Pounder (Oh he was late as well so that’s a fine!), Mickey Spencer, Tom Doherty, David Piper, Adi Foster (complete with Alice Band!!!), Roy O’Brien, Neil Coates, Steve Thompson and Al James Hannigan.
All in all though it was great entertainment for the 500 odd spectators with plenty of goals to keep them happy.
The match also helped boost the Charity coffers and Tom White and Terry Cotton are to be applauded for assembling such an entertaining array of talent.
