Yeovil Town Ladies are delighted to confirm the signing of outstanding defensive midfield player Katie Sherwood as they move towards their debut season in the expanded FA WSL. The recruitment of Katie Sherwood (formally Daley), who was said to be on the radar of a number of FAWSL 1 & 2 clubs, represents a major boost to Yeovil Town Ladies.
Sherwood, who has 46 Welsh caps, has previously played for clubs like Chelsea, Bristol Academy, and Cardiff City has also played in the United States for Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.
Yeovil Town Ladies Manager Sarah Lawler said “I am really excited to work with Katie and think she will be a fantastic addition to the talented squad we have here. It’s important to us that those players coming to play for Yeovil Town Ladies really buy into our club philosophy and on meeting with Katie it was very clear that she was exactly the kind of player we had been looking for to add strength and depth to the squad"
Katie Sherwood was equally pleased about the move when she said “After meeting with Sarah it was an easy decision that Yeovil Town was the club for me. Yeovil is very much a family club and their professional approach and ambition for the coming season was a real selling point. I feel really excited and focused for the season ahead and I look forward to playing a part in making Yeovil Town Ladies FC a successful FA Women’s Super League 2 team.
Commenting Club Chairman David Mills said “When we recently met Katie it was clear that her vision matched our own and I am delighted that Katie has decided to join the Yeovil Town Ladies family”
