Paul Sturrock has announced that Ryan Dickson will become the new Glovers captain, with Nathan Smith as vice-captain.

Sturrock said: "Ryan has been there and got the t-shirt, he has played in a number of leagues for different clubs and his experience will be invaluable to our younger players.

"We have numerous young lads this season and it is important we have leadership qualities and Ryan certainly has those qualities.

"I have made Nathan Smith the vice-captain, Nathan is a model professional and picking these two is the right choice for the club"

New skipper Ryan said: "It’s a honour to be made captain, we have a young squad and I see myself as one of the more experienced players at the club.

"I hope to help the young lads, our togetherness is key this year and I hope I can bring players together.

"I like to think I do things right, both on and off the field and I see myself as a leader. I have a bit of temper at times and I am not scared to tell people what I think.

"I was captain for three games at Crawley last season and we didn’t lose one of them, so hopefully we can go unbeaten this season as well!"
