Ray supported Yeovil for many years alongside wife Joy. On their wedding day, 4 January 1958, the couple missed the train to London for their honeymoon as they waited for confirmation of the football result, with Yeovil playing away to Fulham in the FA Cup. Having caught a later train and eventually arrived into Waterloo Station just before midnight, they unexpectedly ran into all the Yeovil fans who were just heading home following a 4-0 loss at Craven Cottage.

 

 

Both attended the first match at the new Huish Park in 1990. For many years, they were regular season ticket holders in the Screwfix Stand and would always sit in their favourite seats in Block M, Row N, forming strong friendships with fellow fans. They braved all weathers until Ray’s poor health meant listening from armchairs at home. Their joint enthusiasm encouraged the grandchildren to become supporters. Ray was a keen woodworker and even designed YTFC-themed gifts for family and friends. He will be sadly missed by wife Joy and the whole family.
