Yeovil missed an untold number of opportunities as they succumb to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Barnet.

The Bees showed their ruthless side midway through the second half as striker; Nicke Kabamba, took two quickfire chances to leave Yeovil stunned.

A late goal from Jamie Reckord would only half the deficit as The Glovers piled on the pressure late in the game.

Chris Hargreaves named an unchanged side to the one that pulled off an impressive draw against Wrexham.

Ex-Yeovil man, Dale Gorman made a return to Huish Park for the first time since leaving to join the London based club in the summer.

Sam Pearson set the tone for the game early on as he cut inside onto his right foot, before firing a shot just wide of the right post.

Just a few minutes later and the Glovers had another huge chance after Alex Fisher outmuscled the Barnet defender before pulling it back for Reckord. Somehow though, Laurie Walker in goal would deny the wing-back his second of the season.

The opportunities would just keep on coming, as the influential Pearson slid Linton through on goal, but his effort was straight at The Bees goalkeeper.

Walker, who was keeping the away side in the game at this point, then pulled off another ridiculous save. A looped cross was flicked on by Linton and looked destined to go in, but somehow the Barnet number one clawed it away from goal.

Yeovil goalkeeper: Grant Smith was finally tested as Kabamba’s header was comfortably saved, following a nice passage of play.

At the other end though, it was all action. Charlie Wakefield was able to find Pearson and after a lovely turn sold the defender, it was that man Walker to deny Yeovil once again.

As the half time whistle was blown, Barnet were undoubtedly happy to go in at 0-0.

The second half would kick off in a similar vein, with Pearson finding himself through on goal. But as he attempted to bend it in that far corner, Walker got a touch on it to divert it to Fisher whose shot was blocked on the line.

The pressure would just keep building with half-chances missed by both Fisher and Josh Staunton.

As we hit the hour mark, Hargreaves would turn to Touré as Town looked to take a much-deserved lead.

Barnet though began to create a couple of chances for themselves with a Ryan Dehavilland effort being comfortably stopped by Smith, before a corner was flicked just over the bar.

That small spell of pressure was then rewarded, after a cross from the right was turned in by Kabamba with a superb flick.

Kabamba then made it a quickfire double when he chipped Smith after spotting him off his line, 2-0 to Barnet.

But Yeovil got the goal they deserved. Following good work down the right-hand side, a cross was delivered, and Reckord met it with a firm header into the bottom corner to pull one back.

With five minutes added on, Yeovil would start throwing everything at The Bees defence with an effort going just wide following a corner.

D’ath and Perry would then come so close once again following long range efforts, but a mix of Walker and the target would deny them that equaliser.

For all the chances though it would be Barnet who would come away with the three points, with Yeovil left to rue countless missed opportunities.

Next up is Altrincham away on Saturday as Town look to pick up their first three points of the season.
