Yeovil Town returned to Somerset empty handed after they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of QPR.

Two goals from Ravel Morrison and a Bobby Zamora header earned Harry Redknapp’s side the three points.

Town’s afternoon got off to a bad start when Ruben Palazuelos was withdrawn during the warm up with a hamstring injury.

Matteo Lanzoni started in the place of the Spaniard and the change saw Luke Ayling move to centre midfield with Lanzoni starting at right back.

Despite the change Town started brightly with Ayling confidently lobbing a loose clearance over Green, but the celebrations were cut short as referee Brown had blown for a Hayter foul.

Minutes later it was Ayling again who went close for the Glovers. With the ball bouncing around in the Rangers area, Ayling picked to the ball up to curl the ball towards goal. With Green rooted to the spot, the ball went narrowly wide of the upright.

The home side opened the scoring when Morrison feinted to shoot to create room for himseld to unleash a 25-yard strike, which left Stech with no chance.

Just before the half hour mark Town made their first substitute with Duane Holmes being replaced by Kevin Dawson.

Town had strong claims for a penalty when Joe Edwards forced his way into the Rangers area, only to have his run ended by the R’s defender Onuoha. Referee Brown looked at his assistant for help, but no penalty was awarded.

The hosts were pushing for a second and nearly got that goal when Jermaine Jenas’ volley bounced over the bar for a goal kick.

Rangers didn’t have to wait long for the second though when substitute Zamora headed home Junior Hoilett’s cross from just inside the six-yard box.

With the fourth official showing six minutes of added on time and Town pushing forward the hosts got their third goal. A superb run from substitute Kranjcar saw him surge his way into the Town area before passing to the unmarked Morrison, who made no mistake from 12 yards.
