A second-half Matt Green penalty was enough to see Mansfield take all three points at The One Call Stadium.

Darren Way made one change to the team that drew 1-1 with Luton on Saturday; Alex Lacey, suffering from an arm injury sustained in that game with the Hatters, dropped to the bench, with Nathan Smith replacing him.

Mansfield started well and nearly went ahead inside three minutes when Chris Clements saw his deflected effort fly just wide of Artur Krysiakís goal.

The home side were reduced to ten men on nine minutes when Danny Rose slid in hard on Otis Khan. Referee John Brooks drew the player away from the crowd and immediately reached for his back pocket.

Adam Chapmanís long throws had been a feature of the game but it nearly proved Mansfieldís undoing as the Glovers regained possession and drove at the Stags backline. Ryan Hedges burst into the box but saw his effort cleared away from danger.

On 26 minutes, Clements connected well with a volley which flew straight at Krysiak; the Glovers then went straight up the other end, with Otis Khan seeing his shot comfortably saved by Brian Jensen.

Hedges had a couple of half chances for Yeovil but the two teams entered the break on level terms.

On 55 minutes, substitute Tahvon Campbell looked to break through the Mansfield defence but had his shirt pulled by Kyle Howkins. The Stags player was subsequently cautioned by referee Brooks.

Mansfield took the lead on 64 minutes and it came from the penalty spot; Krysiak saved Matt Greenís initial shot but brought down Mitchell Rose as he tried to reach the second ball.

From the resulting penalty kick, Green sent Krysiak the wrong way.

Francois Zoko came on for the Glovers in an attempt to get an equaliser. The change nearly paid off immediately as the frontman flashed a shot across goal from a tight angle.

On 76 minutes, Mal Benning within inches of doubling the home sideís lead but shot narrowly wide with Krysiak scrambling.

Three minutes later, Matt Dolan had the ball in the net but saw his effort ruled out for offside.

Tom Eaves headed over a Matt Butcher cross as Yeovil pushed for an equaliser but it was not enough.
