The Glovers ran out 6-1 winners this evening at Frome Town thanks to two goals in the first half by new signing AJ Leitch-Smith, a second brace for Kieffer Moore and a goal each from Sam Hoskins and Sam Foley.

Gary Johnson named two different sides for each half, which included a trialist in each eleven. Midfielder Luke Clark started the first half and Callum Harris started the second half in the centre of midfield.

The Glovers survived an early scare when the home side fired over the bar from close range.

AJ Leitch-Smith opened his Town account in the 18th minute when he headed home a Nathan Ralph cross from the left wing.

The former Crewe man doubled his tally with just under five minutes of the first half remaining when he controlled a cross field pass from new signing Brendan Moloney. He cut in from the left wing and fired low past Chitty in the Frome goal.

Just two minutes later the home side pulled a goal back when Matt Smith drilled home a cross from the left wing.

Five minutes into the second half Town made it 3-1 when good persistence by Kieffer Moore caused an error in the Frome defence. His pass along the six-yard line found an unmarked Sam Hoskins, who slotted the ball into the empty net.

Moore got himself on the scoresheet when he converted from the penalty spot after Liam Davis was upended in the box.

Moore doubled his goal count for the evening when he prodded him home from inside the six-yard box after a scramble.

Sam Foley added another goal when he latched onto a through ball to coolly curl the ball past Chitty to make it 6-1.
