Yeovil Town’s trip to Dorchester ended in a goalless draw after big chances fell for both Alex Fisher and Max Hunt either side of half time.

Following Matthew Worthington’s red card against Plymouth, Chris Hargreaves would have to shake up his side and brought in Trialist A to play alongside Sam Perry in midfield. Lawson D’Ath made a welcome return to the side in place of Tom Knowles who was given a rest for a minor injury issue. Meanwhile, Charlie Wakefield would fill in at right wing back for Chiori Johnson who was suffering with a slight knock.

Yeovil started the stronger of the two sides and came closest when a long ball was pulled back by Jamie Reckord for Alex Fisher whose volley deflected just wide for a corner.

The Magpies defence continually struggled to deal with corners from the away side with Josh Staunton an Hunt both going close.

Another chance fell to the Glovers after Malachi Linton won the ball back high up the pitch but his right footed effort was stopped by a mix of the Dorchester defender and keeper.

Even with all the pressure from Yeovil, the home side stayed strong and managed to keep it level going into half time.

The second half started in similar fashion with a cross from the Trialist A well met by Fisher whose header; had the keeper beaten but went just wide of the post.

On a day where the defence was rarely challenged, a long searching ball from the Dorchester side caused serious problems for Staunton as the attacker managed to get round him before putting his effort just wide of Grant Smith’s post.

18-year-old Harry Dillon put in a superb performance in goal for the home side and this was more than emphasised by his point blank save in the second half from Fisher, who must have thought he’d given Yeovil the lead.

The game died out towards the end of the second half with The Glovers limited to long range opportunities at a maximum.

Next up is another away trip to Weston Super Mare on Saturday for a 3pm kick off.
