With kick off delayed by 15 minutes due to bad traffic around the stadium Town returned home from Brighton empty handed after two second half goals from Kazenga LuaLua and Jesse Lingard.

Manager Gary Johnson made on change from the last game with Sam Hoskins starting in place of Kevin Dawson.

Just before the twenty minute mark the first real effort at goal came from the Glovers. Spaniard Ruben Palazuelos picked the ball up outside the area and unleashed a left-footed effort that bounced back off the cross bar.

Moments later the home side had appeals for a handball in the penalty area turned down by the referee.

Town had a major let off on 27 minutes when Orlandi put the ball wide when he only had Stech to beat.  Seconds later Orlandi had another chance to score but he could only direct his header wide of the post.

Jamie McAllister went close for Town when his free kick from the half way line evaded everyone in the area, only for a Brighton defender to read the situation well to clear in the six yard box.

With one minute remaining of the first half Brighton winger Will Buckley cut in from the right wing to fire a left footed shot at goal, but Stech was down well to his left to keep the scores level.

Ten minutes into the second half the home side had two chances to open the scoring in the space of two minutes. First Orlandi completely missed a cross, then Stech was on hand to make a fine save to deny Buckley’s header.

The Glovers were forced into making a substitute on the hour mark when Tom Lawrence limped off and was replaced by Liam Davis.

The home side made all three substitutions in the second period and it was substitute LuaLua who opened the scoring. A cross/shot from the winger on the left evaded everyone to nestle in the far corner of the net.

With the fourth official signaling three added on minutes the home doubled their advantage when Lingard slotted home into the roof of the net.

The defeat confirmed Town’s relegation to League One. It’s been emotional the Championship.
