4th November 2016
Town take a break from Sky Bet League Two duty to start their cup campaign off the back of a four-match unbeaten run.
Darren Way’s side have won three of the last four fixtures in League Two as well as drawing with Grimsby Town last time out, helping them move up to 11th in the table and within two points of the play-offs.
The Glovers also come into the fixture against the Moors having not conceded a goal in five matches, totalling over 450 minutes of football.
Last season Town narrowly missed out on a Third Round tie against Everton at Huish Park, but will spurred on by the prospect of another momentous occasion in the FA Cup as seen in both 2004 and 2015 when the Glovers squared up against Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.
With an infamous history in the world’s oldest domestic club competition, Yeovil will be keen to avoid being on the receiving end of a ‘Cupset’ this weekend.
Visitors Solihull come into the match at Huish Park on Saturday off the back of victory last weekend, coming back from Braintree Town with a 1-0 win to move them to 15th in the National League table with 22 points.
The West Midlands outfit were promoted from National League North last season as they claimed the title, continuing their climb up the English footballing pyramid.
Manager Marcus Bignot has attracted attention for his achievements at Damson Park, with the former Queens Park Rangers and Crewe Alexandra defender heavily linked with the vacant manager’s position at Grimsby Town.
Head-to-head
Saturday’s FA Cup fixture will be the first competitive meeting between the two sides, with Solihull operating in the either the National League North or National League in recent years.
Referee
David Rock (Northamptonshire) will take charge of the cup clash at Huish Park this weekend, for what will be his 12th match of the season.
All of Mr Rock’s previous fixtures this season have come in the National League, issuing two yellow cards last time out as Tranmere Rovers came away from Dover Athletic 4-1 victors.
Saturday’s match will be the first occasion Mr Rock has taken charge of an FA Cup First Round fixture or officiated a match involving a Football League Club.
Mr Rock will be assisted by Louis Marks (Hampshire) and Christopher Husband (Worcestershire) with Adam Matthews (Gloucestershire) taking on the role of fourth official.
