Yeovil Town make their competitive debut at Huish Park for the 2015/16 season this coming Tuesday when the Glovers host Queens Park Rangers in the Capital One Cup.

Both teams kicked off their league campaigns at the weekend and both sides suffered defeats to local rivals.

Yeovil travelled to Exeter and lost out 3-2. Paul Sturrock’s men had clawed their way back from 2-0 down to be in prime position at 2-2.

New loan striker Harry Cornick and Matthew Dolan scored the goals that looked to secure at least a point before Will Hoskins gave the Grecians their lead that would prove ultimately the winning difference.

As for QPR, Chris Ramsay took his side to Charlton Athletic but came a cropper losing 2-0 despite created the same number of chances as their hosts.

Morgan Fox and Tony Watt scored past Rob Green to secure the points.

QPR will travel to Somerset with a question mark over their star striker Charlie Austin. Austin has been attracting a lot of interest from Premier League clubs over the summer and QPR could want to avoid cup-tying the marksmen.

As we know, Yeovil have a few injury concerns and could only name six substitutes at the weekend.

Ben Tozer, Jordan Gibbons, Omar Sowunmi, Jack Compton, Kevin Dawson and Simon Gillett are all missing from the squad and there may be opportunity for others who missed on Saturday to play a part.

Gibbons in particularly disappointed to be missing out on this fixture, he left QPR this summer in the search for first team action and hoped that Yeovil would offer him that. Not only has a pre-season injury prevented him from starting the season  in the team but also from playing against the side he spent such a lot of time at.

Last time we met

The two clubs met during the Glovers’ solitary season in the Championship, Rangers came out on top on both occasions. At Huish Park, a single, controversial penalty was the only difference between the sides but in the reverse fixture there was a gulf in class.

In March 2014, at Loftus Road, a Ravel Morrison brace and a single Bobby Zamora strike gave the R’s a 3-0 win.

The match saw the Glovers field impressive loanee Tom Lawrence and actually started well, but a couple of saves from former England ‘keeper Rob Green kept the score at 0-0.
