14th October 2016
The Glovers are gunning for a third straight win in front of their home support, having won their last two outings in Somerset against Cheltenham Town and Wycombe Wanderers.
A convincing 4-2 win against the Robins was followed up last weekend with a 1-0 victory over the Chairboys in front of a jubilant home support.
Darren Way has revealed a ‘strong’ squad is available for selection, with a number of players likely to return from injury.
Newport come in to the match at the foot of the table, having picked up just seven points from their opening 10 games.
Their disappointing start led to the dismissal of manager Warren Feeney, with the experienced Graham Westley taking charge of County for the first time this weekend against Town.
The Exiles picked up a point following a 0-0 draw at Colchester United last weekend, picking up just their second point on the road this season having drawn with Hartlepool United and lost to Grimsby Town, Doncaster Rovers, Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town.
Former Glovers Ben Tozer and Jack Compton are also likely to be a part of Westley’s squad, making their return to Somerset having departed in the summer.
Head-to-head
The two sides have met only twice in competitive competition, with both fixtures coming in League Two last season.
Town came away from Rodney Parade with a point in November following a 0-0 draw, before Compton notched the only goal for Town in the reverse fixture in April as Yeovil picked up all three points on the way to survival.
Albeit after only two matches, Yeovil remain unbeaten against Newport in competitive competition.
Referee
Dean Whitestone (Northamptonshire) will be the man in charge on Saturday, officiating what will be his 14th match of the season.
Mr Whitestone is yet to produce a red card this season but has issued 28 yellow cards, including four last time out in Morecambe’s 2-1 win at Notts County.
Mr Whitestone has taken charge of Town’s matches on a number of occasions, officiating the Football League trophy match against Gillingham in November 2015 which resulted in Yeovil winning on penalties with just one yellow card issued.
Timothy Wood (Gloucestershire) and Louis Marks (Hampshire) will act as Mr Whitestone’s assistants, with John Flynn (Oxfordshire) named as fourth official.
