20th October 2015

Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action tonight when the Glovers host Mansfield Town at Huish Park in a 7:45pm kick off.

Yeovil are looking to bounce back from defeat at the weekend, a defeat that had ended a three match unbeaten streak.

Notts County were the beneficiaries of some lacklustre defending on Saturday, something which manager Paul Sturrock has promised will be the centre of attention in the build up to this game.

The promising performances against Portsmouth, Coventry and Dagenham are still fresh in the memory of the squad and it’s hoped that the same resilience can return to the side this midweek.

At the other end, Ryan Bird has stated he hopes to add to his goal tally while Shaun Jeffers stated publically this week that he is buzzing with anticipation of his first goal – Tuesday would a good a time as any to get off the mark!

Sturrock has made his intentions clear with regards to his squad recently, with a loan space freed up in the squad; he would like to add a new face to the fray. It is not known if that new face will be added in time for Tuesday night.

In his post-match interview on Saturday (Click HERE to view on YouTube) Sturrock confirmed that he had told some of his squad that their time at Yeovil was over and that none of the injured contingent are likely to be ready for this game.

That leaves him with somewhere in the region of 17 or 18 players to pick from and he has suggested that he may make changes to refresh the look of the first eleven.

As for the visiting Mansfield Town side, they are flying high in the league with a place in a play-offs safely in bag for now.

Sitting in 4th spot, they lie just one win outside of the automatic promotion spots and a full 13 points ahead of the Glovers.

However, on Saturday they lost out at home to Bristol Rovers going down 2-1 thanks to a last gasp winner from the Gas.

The game saw two Mansfield Town players sent off, Nicky Hunt and Krystian Pearce will both be missing from the Stags’ defence as they both begin suspensions.

Before that, Mansfield have been on a run of three straight wins, beating Newport, Dagenham Stevenage showing that their form against sides in and among the bottom six isn’t to be sniffed at.

Back on home soil, Paul Sturrock will be hoping for some bouncebackability from his squad as Yeovil look to get out of the scrap near the bottom.

Last time we met

The two sides last crossed paths in the league back in 2005, when both sides recorded a convincing win at home over the other.

At Huish Park, Yeovil came out on top in a seven-goal thriller. Five Glovers goals, from Arron Davies, Michael Rose, Phil Jevons and Darren Way (2) claimed all three points in a decisive and clinical performance.

However, in the reverse fixture at Field Mill, it was the Stags who did the damage with a 4-1 win of their own.

In the season before that, a Terry Skiverton goal secured a point at home while a single Kirk Jackson goal was enough to take the win in the away game.
