Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League One action this coming Monday evening (7:45pm kick off) when the Glovers host Leyton Orient.

Following Saturday’s defeat to Bristol City, Yeovil have dropped to the bottom of the table, with Orient just two points and three places above the Glovers, this Monday’s game could be seen as really rather important.

Unlike the rest of League One and most of the Football League who play today, (Sunday) the extra days rest will hopefully suit both teams.

Yeovil, as we know succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at top of the table Bristol City on Boxing Day while The O’s battered Crawley 4-1.

That result kept the Orient heads above the relegation zone and out of trouble, but only on goal difference.

A Yeovil win would guarantee they overtake Monday’s opponents and potentially out of the drop zone in the same move, depending on how Sunday’s fixtures pan out.

Prior to the Boxing Day victory, Orient had lost their last three games, scoring a total of just one goal.

A 2-0 defeat to Barnsley, 1-0 loss at Gillingham and a 2-1 home defeat to Peterborough have done the damage to send the Londoners crashing towards the bottom end of the league.

Not a great start for their new manager, Fabio Liverani took over from Mauro Milanese after the predecessor managed to take charge of just eight league games.

Orient could have been bringing back a familiar face having had Wolves loaned Jack Price at the club on a short term deal, however he has recently been recalled by his parent club and is now back with the midlanders.

Price was at Huish Park on a similar deal earlier in the campaign.

The team news from Huish Park still surrounds the injury list, with Kevin Dawson, Joel Grant and Kieffer Moore all keeping the physios busy over the past few weeks.

Nathan Ralph did make a return to the match day squad on Boxing Day however Sam Hoskins did miss out.

With only five of the club’s six loanees available they are all welcome to take a place in the match day squad.

Jordan Clarke, on loan from Coventry hasn’t been in action since the FA cup 2nd round game against Accrington.

With both clubs spending large parts of recent seasons in League One, there are many occasions where the sides have crossed paths.

However, the last time they met was an FA Cup last season.

It was a home tie for the Glovers in the third round which saw a comfortable 4-0 win that set up a tie against Premier League Southampton.

James Hayter got a couple, Joel Grant chipped in before Kieffer Moore rounded the game off in style.

Prior to that, over 700 Yeovil fans travelled to Orient for a Johnstones Paint Trophy Southern semi final which ended in a heart breaking 1-0 defeat for those travelling fans.

The last league meeting back in 2013 did end more favourably for those in green and white, Paddy Madden got a brace and that man James Hayter hit the net again in a breezy 3-0 win.

In total, the head to head records since Yeovil first entered the football league reads in their favour; nine Yeovil wins, just the seven to Orient and six stalemates.

The game is a 7:45pm kick off this coming Monday and Gary Johnson and his squad need your support heading into 2015.

Tickets for the fixture are, as always available right up until kick off and can be purchased in all the usual ways.

As ever, Glovers Player will have the full match commentary and social networks and YouTube will have the post match coverage.

But there is nothing quite like being there in the flesh, so come to Huish Park this Monday and see off a calendar year that started in the second tier of English football and beckons in a new year that starts with none other than Manchester United paying a visit to Somerset.
