Yeovil Town are back in action this coming Tuesday night with a home tie in the Johnstones Paint Trophy second round.

The Glovers host Coventry City at Huish Park with a 7:45pm kick off. Buy tickets for the game by calling 01935 847888 or online by clicking here.

Yeovil will be hoping to build on the well-earned draw they dug out at Portsmouth on Saturday.

A clean sheet at Fratton Park is not a regular occurrence for the visiting sides, so Yeovil’s shut out was certainly welcoming.

Paul Sturrock’s men had chances of their own to steal all three points, but Ryan Bird and Stephen Arthurworrey were unable to take their chances created from set pieces.

The game was a double positive for Sturrock as he could welcome back three of his injured contingent.

Ryan Dickson surprised everyone – including himself – by playing 90 minutes, Marc Laird came off the bench to make his long awaited return and Alex Lacey was back on the bench.

With Tuesday’s game not having the pressure of three vital league points hovering over it, it is hoped that these three, plus maybe one or two more, could get vital match fitness and edge the club closer to a fully healthy squad.

That said, Dickson stated post-match that the JPT was an excellent opportunity for Yeovil and himself to return to Wembley, showing that everyone at the club is taking the game seriously and any changes to the team will be done with nothing short of victory on their minds.

As for the Glovers’ League One opposition, Coventry City come into the game after hammering Shrewbury 3-0 at the weekend.

A couple of goals from Adam Armstrong and a Marc Antoine Fortune penalty sealed the points.

However, it hasn’t been going all the Sky Blues’ way of late, they were beaten by Bury and Scunthorpe during September and have been alternating between wins and losses for the last month.

The team news from Yeovil is that there may be changes – one of those will be enforced with Josh Sheehan away on international duty with the Welsh Under 21 squad.

Jakub Sokolik went off on Saturday with a dead leg, it is not known just yet if he’ll be available, but as we all know the central defender is hard as nails and played with a broken hand earlier in the season.

As for Coventry, they have also been struck by international call ups.

Hot shot striker Adam Armstrong, along with two other loanees Bryn Morris and Ryan Kent have all been selected to represent England for their respective age groups.

The Welsh Under 19s squads also includes two of Tony Mowbray’s options with George Thomas and Cian Harries, however these two could be available from the training camp.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Lee Burge missed the weekend game through illness while James Maddison and Jordan Willis could also be missing through injury.

Reduced price entry is available for all supporters this Tuesday night with tickets for adults set at just £10 with concessions available for a £5 and juniors admitted for just a single pound!

Come along to Huish Park and cheer on the Glovers to victory and the next round of the JPT

Last time we met

Coventry have been in League One for a number of seasons now and as a result, the Glovers crossed paths with them last season.

In the two league meetings, Yeovil earned a draw at Huish Park but coming unstuck at the Ricoh losing 2-1.

The 0-0 draw in Somerset in January was a tale of two penalties – one given, and one not.

Jed Steer pushed Gary Madine’s spot kick away whilst AJ Leitch Smith had some very credible calls for his own spot kick turned down.

The game saw Stephen Arthurworrey and Steer put in brilliant defensive performances.

Kieffer Moore was filling in at the heart of central defence and impressed in his part time position.

Earlier in the season, Reda Johnson and Simeon Jackson scored the goals that secured three points for the Sky Blues, Sam Foley had scored an equaliser in between goals but it wasn’t enough.

The last time Yeovil won against Coventry was back during the promotion season of 2012/13, Paddy Madden’s solitary goal was all that was needed to continue an impressive run of victories.
