31st March 2017

Town return to Huish Park off the back of a dramatic encounter at Exeter City.

Solid and clinical for 88 minutes, the Glovers succumbed to three goals in the closing minutes of the match at St James Park to surrender a 3-0 lead.

The result condemned Town to their 16th draw of the campaign – much to boss Darren Way’s frustration.

His side will be looking to put the outcome at Exeter and sequence of single points picked up to bed when an out of sorts Carlisle make the 337-mile trip to Somerset.

The Cumbrians, who had been in the automatic promotion places for the majority of the season, suffered a 2-0 loss to Crewe Alexandra last weekend which saw them drop out of the play-offs for the first time since September.

It was Keith Curle’s outfit’s sixth defeat in seven matches (they drew the other) but the Bristolian manager still has his sights set firmly on a top seven finish.

Curle has recruited two players this week with forwards Ben Tomlinson and Samir Nabi joining on non-contract terms and a deal until the end of the season, respectively.

Striker Shaun Miller is suspended after receiving his marching orders against Crewe, while top scorer Jason Kennedy (groin) has been out of action since January and is unlikely to be available on Saturday.

Head-to-head

Town haven’t won in their last nine fixtures in all competitions against Carlisle (D3 L6).

Their last win over the Cumbrians came in 2011 at Brunton Park courtesy of goals from Jonathan Obika and Dean Bowditch.

A solitary strike from Obika in the same season gave Yeovil their last three points against Carlisle at home.

Last time out, Yeovil tested Carlisle’s resilience with a second-half comeback as the Cumbrians held out to claim their seventh consecutive home victory.

Defender Shaun Brisley’s worldie and Charlie Wyke’s header put the hosts 2-0 up at half-time before Nathan Smith grabbed a rare goal to set up an exciting finish.

Referee

Trevor Kettle will take charge of his 31st game of the season when Town host Carlisle.

Mr Kettle has awarded 127 yellow cards so far this campaign and has issued five reds.

The Leicestershire-born is yet to officiate a Yeovil fixture this season but was the man in the middle for the Glovers’ 1-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge last year.

Mr Kettle will be assisted by Dean Treleaven (West Sussex) and Kevin Howick (Oxfordshire) with Louis Marks (Hampshire) acting as fourth official.
