Yeovil Town are back in action tonight in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy when they host Barnet, at Huish Park, with a 7:45 kick off.

The Glovers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance against Oxford on Saturday – a game with importance to the club yet without the pressure of three vital league points at stake might by just what the team needs.

Manager Paul Sturrock took to YTFC.net this weekend to explain his feelings on the start of the season and in a heartfelt open letter asked for your support in the upcoming games as he moulds a depleted squad and helps them develop in League Two.

You can read the letter by clicking HERE.

Saturday’s loss to Oxford halted what had seemed to be a turning of the ship, Yeovil had notched their first win of the season a week prior, coming from 2-0 to beat Luton 3-2 and had been showing signs of recovery both on the pitch and in the physio’s room.

It is no secret that injuries have played their part in the Glovers’ stuttering start to the season and it has been revealed that Jakub Sokolik has suffered a hand injury but will hope to continue playing with bandaging.

Wes Fodgen, Ben Tozer, Marc Laird, Ryan Dickson, Kevin Dawson and Simon Gillett, arguably six of the starting 11 Sturrock would hope to use, are all still out of action. There is light at the end of the tunnel for Dawson however as he started running this week and even managed some very light ball work although a return to action is still a fair way off.

As for Barnet, they lie just one place above Yeovil in the League Two table and have had a similar record through the season so far. They drew 0-0 with big spending Cambridge at the weekend but that has come off the back of a couple defeats.

The Bees lost to Wolves in the Capital One Cup as well as Bristol Rovers the weekend before.

Their only League win came against Northampton Town but they also overcame League One Millwall in the Capital One Cup first round.

Manager Martin Allen has strengthened his attacking options by signing former Peterborough and Bradford striker Aaron McClean while it could be Paul Sturrock giving a former Barnet player a chance vs his old club.

Iffy Allen was signed from the Bees during the summer and could play against his old employers on Tuesday night.

One familiar face in the Barnet line-up will be Bondz Ngala, the central defender spent the 2011/12 season with Yeovil scoring twice in just over 30 appearances.

Tuesday night under the lights at Huish Park is always a great atmosphere, why not come along and get behind Sturrock and the team. Tickets are available at a reduced rate for the game, why not bring a friend or family member and treat them to an evening at the football.

Sturrock and the lads need everyone pulling together, a run in the JPT could be just what the gaffer ordered.

Last time we met

The two sides last crossed paths in competitive action during the FA Cup of 2003/04. Yeovil beat Barnet on their way to meeting Liverpool in the later rounds.

The game, at Huish Park, was played in front of nearly 6000 people and saw Yeovil thrash their opponents 5-1. Gavin Williams, Colin Miles, Jake Edwards and Nick Crittenden all taking their share of the goal scoring spoils.

The last league meeting came the season before with the results not quite going in Yeovil’s favour. A 0-0 draw at home and a 2-1 defeat down at what was then, Underhill.

That 0-0 draw is however, the only time the sides have played out a game with fewer than three goals in since the turn of the millennium. There’s another 2-1 Barnet win and a 3-2 home win from the campaign before… so on that form, we should expect goals galore on Tuesday.
